About the event

This event is lovingly crafted by a team of passionate artists and historians who are deeply inspired by Ukrainian history and song tradition.

I’m truly honored to be part of it - I arranged a beautiful version of Roman Kupchynskyi’s romance “For Your Radiant Beauty, Girl” for baritone and piano, which will be performed during the evening.

Throughout the night, you’ll hear powerful songs of the Riflemen performed by an amazing lineup of musicians: the legendary banduryst and People’s Artist of Ukraine Ostap Stakhiv, baritone of the Lyric Opera of Chicago Mykola Yanytskyi, soloist of the Lviv Opera Tetyana Vakhnovska, opera soprano Vira Boychuk, composer and vocalist Marta Fraser, soprano Khrystyna Musiy, pianist Natalka Kurylyak, and bard Andriy Boychuk.

You’ll travel back in time to experience the courage, culture, and everyday life of these brave and talented young men and women - the Ukrainian Sich Riflemen. Through song, dramatized scenes, real letters, photos and archival video, you’ll discover stories that are as moving as they are timeless. You’ll see how much their dreams and hopes - even a hundred years ago - still echo our own.

The event will be in Ukrainian, with English subtitles throughout.

 Program highlights:

• Riflemen’s songs and authentic letters

• Archival photos and video

• Dramatic reenactments

• A mini-museum exhibit (open from 4:00 p.m.)
